Ashwin Analyzes Kohli's Technique Shift

Ravichandran Ashwin, a former Indian cricketer, noted a significant transformation in Virat Kohli's batting technique over the last two years. He pointed out that Kohli has transitioned from a static and controlled style in 2024 to a more fluid and dynamic approach in 2026. Ashwin believes that this change allows Kohli to have more freedom with his bat, enabling him to execute aggressive shots and achieve better batting positions.

Detailed Technical Insights from Ashwin

"In 2024, Kohli was still engaged in Test cricket, maintaining a very still stance with minimal bat movement. However, by 2026, his technique has evolved; he starts with the bat down and raises it later, which creates potential energy and promotes continuous bat movement. This adjustment has allowed him to get into excellent positions. Back in 2024, his head remained still, and his footwork was balanced due to his focus on Test cricket. Now, without the constraints of Test matches, he is more relaxed with his hands and is taking more risks with his shots," Ashwin explained during 'Champions vali Commentary.'

Kohli's Stellar Performance in IPL 2026

As an ODI-exclusive player, Kohli has been in exceptional form for Team India. He kicked off the IPL 2026 season with a remarkable 69 runs off 38 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Following this, he scored 28 runs in just 18 balls, featuring two fours and a six against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Bengaluru.

RCB's Impressive Victory Against CSK

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) achieved a convincing 43-run victory over CSK during their IPL 2026 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Tim David's explosive 70 runs off 25 balls, along with solid contributions from his teammates and a strong bowling performance led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, secured RCB's second consecutive win of the season.

Kohli's Record-Breaking IPL Career

Kohli has set the record for the most runs in IPL history, accumulating over 8,700 runs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He remains the only player to surpass the 8,000-run mark in the tournament.
