Vinesh Phogat's Asian Games Trials Update
On Saturday, May 30, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) granted Vinesh Phogat permission to participate in the 53kg weight class during the Asian Games trials. Previously, she was instructed to compete in the 50kg category, which she had also participated in during the 2024 Olympics. Unfortunately, Vinesh was disqualified from the Olympic final due to being 100 grams over the weight limit. As she aims for her third medal at the Asian Games, Vinesh arrived at the Indira Gandhi Stadium around 7:00 AM IST for the trials. She has previously secured a bronze medal in 2014 and a gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games.
