Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India] - August 9: Vincent Keymer from Germany showcased his exceptional skills at the Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters 2025, achieving his third consecutive victory by defeating Karthikeyan Murali in Round 3 on Saturday. This win positions Keymer as the sole player in the Masters section with a flawless score, establishing him as the early frontrunner in India's premier classical chess tournament.
Arjun Erigaisi also had a notable day, triumphing over American Grandmaster Ray Robson, keeping him firmly in contention for the top position. Vidit Gujrathi made a strong comeback with a crucial win against Nihal Sarin, while Awonder Liang celebrated his first tournament victory by surprising Dutch GM Jorden van Foreest. Young talent V Pranav impressed by holding top seed Anish Giri to a draw, according to a press release.
