Veda Krishnamurthy Bids Farewell to International Cricket
Indian cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy has officially announced her retirement from international cricket as of Friday. Throughout her career, she participated in 48 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 76 T20 Internationals, scoring 829 and 875 runs respectively. Despite stepping away from playing, she expressed her intention to remain involved in the sport in a different capacity.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Veda reflected on her journey from a girl with big dreams in a small town to proudly donning the Indian team jersey. She expressed gratitude for the lessons, friendships, and memories cricket has provided her. While she is saying goodbye to playing, she emphasized that her connection to the game will continue, stating, 'Always for India. Always for the team.'
The 32-year-old, who is married to former Karnataka cricketer Arjun Hoysala, last represented the country in a T20 International against Australia in Melbourne in 2020. Her final ODI appearance was in 2018.
