Sooryavanshi's Remarkable IPL 2026 Performance

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a rising star in cricket, made headlines at the conclusion of IPL 2026 by securing multiple awards, including Most Valuable Player, Emerging Player of the Season, Super Striker of the Season, Orange Cap, and Super Sixes of the Season.

The 15-year-old batter from Bihar showcased an outstanding performance for the Rajasthan Royals, amassing a total of 776 runs with an impressive strike rate of 237.30, making him the highest run-scorer of the tournament.

Sooryavanshi's remarkable consistency, highlighted by a record-setting 72 sixes, allowed him to break several long-standing IPL records, solidifying his status as one of India's most promising cricket talents. At just 15 years and 65 days, he became the youngest player to win the Orange Cap, surpassing the previous record held by Sudharsan of Gujarat Titans, who won it at 23 years and 231 days in 2025.

Milestones Achieved and Near Misses

Sooryavanshi came close to equaling Virat Kohli's record of four centuries in a single season, having been dismissed in the nineties on three occasions: 93 against Lucknow Super Giants, 97 in the Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad, and 96 in Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans, in addition to scoring a century against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He also reached the milestone of 1,000 IPL runs in record time, needing only 440 balls, surpassing the legendary Andre Russell. In terms of innings, he became the second fastest to achieve this feat, doing so in 23 innings, while Shaun Marsh holds the record at 21 innings.

Sooryavanshi's Reflections on Pressure

"It feels good, but I feel a bit under pressure having to give the interview. I am not drinking milk nowadays. How to play each game, you can't play every game the same way. If I have to stay injury-free, I have to work on my fitness. Everyone is very supportive. All senior players, support staff, everyone backs me, and it's a good atmosphere," Sooryavanshi expressed after receiving the Most Valuable Player award.

RCB Triumphs Over GT in the Final

In the IPL 2026 final, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced Gujarat Titans (GT), who batted first and managed to score only 155 runs for 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Washington Sundar was the standout performer with the bat, scoring 50 runs off 37 balls, while Nishant Sindhu contributed 20 runs.

RCB began their innings strongly with a 62-run partnership between Venkatesh Iyer, who scored 32 runs off 16 balls, and Virat Kohli. Although GT fought back, reducing RCB to 132 for 5 at one point, Kohli's unbeaten 75 runs off 42 balls led RCB to victory with two overs remaining. This win marks RCB's second IPL title and their fourth overall in Indian franchise cricket, including two Women's Premier League titles.
