Upsets Galore at Senior National Badminton Championships in Vijayawada

The Senior National badminton championships in Vijayawada witnessed remarkable upsets as Shruti Mundada, Parul Choudhary, and Tanvi Patri defeated higher-ranked opponents to advance to the pre-quarterfinals. The men's singles also saw Aryaman Tandon take down the third seed, while several other players made their mark. Exciting Matches at the Championships

Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], December 25: In a thrilling turn of events at the Senior National badminton championships, seasoned players Shruti Mundada, Parul Choudhary, and emerging talent Tanvi Patri triumphed over higher-seeded competitors to secure their spots in the women's singles pre-quarterfinals on Thursday.


Shruti dominated the match against seventh seed Jiya Rawat, winning decisively with scores of 21-14 and 21-9. Parul also showcased her skills by overcoming ninth seed with a comeback victory of 18-21, 21-18, 21-12. Meanwhile, Tanvi Patri eliminated eighth seed Isharani Baruah in a closely contested match, finishing with scores of 22-20 and 21-19.


Other players advancing include top seed Unnati Hooda, second seed Anupama Upadhyaya, third seed Anmol Kharb, and world junior silver medalist Tanvi Sharma.


In the men's singles category, Aryaman Tandon caused an upset by defeating third seed M Raghu with scores of 17-21, 21-11, and 21-14 in the round of 32.


Additionally, Abhinav Garg and Rithvik Sanjeevi S made their mark by reaching the pre-quarters after defeating 10th seed Abhinav Thakur (21-19, 21-16) and 13th seed Orijit Chaliha (21-15, 21-19), respectively.


In mixed doubles, Nitin Kumar and Kanika Kanwal surprised the sixth seeds Kevin Wong CC and Pranavi N with a score of 23-21, 21-15.
