Udayan Mane has been eagerly anticipating his next professional triumph since his last victory, which he celebrated at the IGPL Invitational in South Africa. As he gears up for the third leg of the African Swing at the AM Green IGPL Invitational Congo, he is brimming with confidence, especially after finishing T-3 in Mauritius and clinching a win in Johannesburg.

Details of the Upcoming Event

The AM Green IGPL Invitational Congo follows the events held in Mauritius and Johannesburg. This tournament will take place at the Par-73 Golf Club de Lubumbashi, a renowned eco-friendly golf venue in Congo.

Mane Reflects on His Recent Win

Mane's recent victory in Johannesburg was impressive, as he secured a seven-shot lead over the well-respected Gaganjeet Bhullar. His outstanding performance included rounds of 65, 64, and 67, totaling 20-under, marking the best score of the AM Green IGPL season so far. This win not only ended his title drought but also significantly boosted his confidence as he aims for consecutive victories.

In his own words, Mane expressed, "It has been 1,578 days since my last professional win, making this victory particularly meaningful. The course was one of the best I've played, and the competition was fierce. The weather conditions were challenging, with rain and wind, requiring quick adjustments to maintain performance."

"Winning abroad is always a special achievement, as it validates my ability to compete under various conditions. I am thrilled with my score of 20-under and the seven-shot margin. Despite starting the final day with a six-shot lead, I remained focused on each shot, knowing that nothing is guaranteed in golf," he added.

Congo Invitational Field Overview

With several AM Green IGPL players participating in the International Series in Singapore, some of Mane's top competitors, including Bhullar, Sachin Baisoya, Karandeep Kochhar, and Pukhraj Singh Gill, will not be competing in the Congo event. However, promising young players like Veer and Raghav are set to make their mark.

Key contenders for this week include Mane, his Atri Mumbai teammate Aman Raj, who has multiple wins in 2025, and Kapil Kumar, also a 2025 winner. Young talents Veer Ganapathy and Raghav Chugh are eager for their first victories, while newcomers Kanav Chauhan and Danish Verma aim for strong finishes to kickstart their seasons.

Two Indian Americans, Manav Shah and Varun Chopra, are also looking for good results. Shah, a former winner on the PGA Tour of Latin America, has achieved two Top-3 finishes in Chandigarh and Johannesburg, along with a T-11 in Mauritius. Milind Soni, who finished sixth in Mauritius and T-11 in Johannesburg, hopes to maintain his form, while Harshjeet Sethie, coached by Rahul Bajaj, also showed promise in Joburg.

Women Pros in Action

The tournament will also feature top female professionals, including Ridhima Dilawari, Vidhatri Urs, Khushi Khanijau, Seher Atwal, Mannat Brar, Shagun Narain, Jahaanvie Walia, and Anisha Agarwalla, along with Neha Tripathi.

The total field comprises 56 players, including ten invitees, with eight local participants and six local amateurs.

Team Format Enhances Competition

The team format has been a significant success, and Mane appreciates its impact. In Johannesburg, despite having a comfortable lead, he continued to strive for more birdies, attributing this mindset to the team format.

Mane stated, "The team aspect adds a crucial layer to the competition. With established teams and a league structure, there is extra motivation to enhance scoring, not just for individual accolades but also for the team championship. Even with a six-shot lead on the final day, my focus remained on creating birdie opportunities and contributing to the team's success. Every shot takes on a new significance."
