UAE Bulls Dominate Ajman Titans in Eliminator with Record-Breaking Performance
Bulls Showcase Power-Hitting to Secure Victory
In a stunning display of power-hitting, the UAE Bulls triumphed over the Ajman Titans by 47 runs during the Eliminator match held at Zayed Cricket Stadium. The Bulls set a new season-high total of 162/3, thanks to an explosive performance from Phil Salt, Tim David, and Rovman Powell, who collectively smashed 16 sixes. The Bulls are now set to face Quetta Qavalry in Qualifier 2, with the winner advancing to compete against the Aspin Stallions for the championship later in the day.
Record-Breaking Innings by the Bulls
The UAE Bulls kicked off their innings with a powerful start, led by Phil Salt, who scored 59 runs off just 26 balls, including four sixes. Salt's aggressive batting quickly propelled the Bulls to 31 runs without loss. He particularly targeted Akif Javed, hitting three consecutive sixes in the second over, setting a strong tone for the innings. Salt partnered with James Vince, who contributed 21 runs off 10 balls, forming a formidable opening partnership of 68 runs before Wasim Akram claimed Vince's wicket in the fifth over.
Salt reached his fifty in a mere 21 balls, hitting seven sixes and two fours. The onslaught continued with Tim David, who scored 40 runs off 13 balls, and Rovman Powell, who remained unbeaten with 32 runs off 10 balls. David hit four consecutive sixes, while Powell added three fours and three sixes, leading the Bulls to a massive total of 162/3, matching the highest score recorded at the Abu Dhabi venue.
Titans' Chase Falters After Strong Start
The Titans began their chase aggressively, with Aneurin Donald scoring 37 runs off 18 balls and Alex Hales adding 35 runs off 18 balls, bringing the score to 68 runs in just five overs. However, the innings took a downturn as the Titans lost four wickets for only 18 runs, collapsing to 86/4 in 7.2 overs.
Junaid Siddique played a crucial role in shifting momentum for the Bulls, delivering a tight fourth over that conceded only seven runs before taking two wickets in consecutive balls during the sixth over, dismissing both Alex Hales and Riley Rossouw.
Donald was later dismissed by Mohammad Rohid Khan, and skipper Moeen Ali, who scored 8 runs off 4 balls, was taken out by Sunil Narine, leaving the Titans struggling to keep up with the required run rate.
Dan Lawrence (14 runs off 9 balls) and Will Smeed (18 runs off 10 balls) remained not out as the Titans ended their innings at 115/4.
