Trump Unveils Plans for Revamped East Potomac Golf Links and Monument Restorations
Restoration of Washington, D.C. Landmarks
On June 29, President Donald Trump announced the successful restoration of numerous statues, monuments, and fountains throughout Washington, D.C. He also revealed plans to transform the East Potomac Golf Links into a premier public golf destination.
In a post shared on social media, Trump highlighted his recent tour of significant sites in the capital, including the Reflecting Pool and Lafayette Park, noting that many public spaces had undergone extensive renovations after enduring years of neglect and vandalism.
Trump expressed pride in the restoration efforts, stating, "Almost all of the Statues, Monuments, and Fountains have been completely renovated and restored, and are in perfect shape after suffering years of graffiti and abuse."
He emphasized the beauty of these landmarks, claiming they are now even more stunning than when they were first constructed. The Reflecting Pool, he noted, is back in operation after being damaged by vandalism.
The President alleged that vandals had intentionally harmed the Reflecting Pool's waterproof lining, causing significant damage. He described how they cut through the protective layers, leading to leaks that had plagued the pool since its establishment in 1922.

Trump stated that the Reflecting Pool had not functioned correctly until recently and that it would be fully restored after July 4th, following necessary maintenance. He also praised the improvements at Lafayette Park, which he claimed had not looked this good since its inception in 1820.
Turning his attention to the East Potomac Golf Links, Trump announced that renowned golf course designer Tom Fazio and his son would oversee the redevelopment. He expressed excitement about creating a world-class golf course that would be accessible to the public.
Trump stated, "We will build one of the Greatest Golf Courses anywhere in the World, which will also be made available to the Public." He mentioned that the course would be capable of hosting major tournaments, including the Ryder Cup and PGA Championship.
He pointed out the current state of the golf course, noting that years of neglect had rendered it nearly unplayable. Trump assured that work on the new course would commence on September 1st, aiming to restore its former glory and enhance Washington, D.C.'s prestige.
