Trump Anticipates a Historic FIFA World Cup in the US
Excitement Builds for the 2026 FIFA World Cup
In a recent statement, Donald Trump expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which the United States will co-host with Canada and Mexico. He confidently stated that this event will be the "greatest and safest sporting event" in the history of the nation.
The tournament is set to kick off on June 11 at the Mexico City Stadium, featuring a total of 104 matches, with the grand finale scheduled for July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium.
Sharing his thoughts on Truth Social, Trump noted the overwhelming demand for tickets and promised that players, officials, and fans would be treated exceptionally during the tournament.
He remarked, "The United States of America looks very much forward to hosting the FIFA World Cup. Ticket sales are through the roof! It will be the Greatest and Safest Sporting Event in American History. All Players, Officials, and Fans will be treated like the STARS that they are!"
In a separate post, Trump welcomed the Iranian national football team to the World Cup but cautioned them about their safety, stating, "The Iranian National Soccer Team is welcome to The World Cup, but I really don’t believe it is appropriate that they be there, for their own life and safety."
This comment followed a statement from Iranian Sports Minister Ahmad Donyamali, who claimed that Iran could not participate due to the assassination of their Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, by the United States.
Donyamali emphasized, "Considering that this corrupt regime [the US] has assassinated our leader, under no circumstances can we participate in the World Cup."
Mehdi Taj, president of the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, echoed these sentiments, expressing skepticism about participating in the World Cup given the recent tensions, questioning why any nation would send its team under such circumstances.
