Tripura Celebrates Olympic Day 2026 with Enthusiastic Rally

Olympic Day Celebration in Agartala

On Tuesday, Tripura's Sports Minister Tinku Roy took part in the Olympic Day Celebration 2026 in Agartala. The event featured a rally aimed at fostering the Olympic spirit and promoting fitness awareness. The rally began at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan and included a diverse group of participants such as athletes, students, coaches, and representatives from various sports organizations.


The rally's purpose was to enhance awareness about the significance of sports and fitness. Participants marched through the city, proudly displaying banners and placards that emphasized themes of unity, discipline, and excellence in sports.


Minister Discusses Sports Association Reforms

In an interview, Minister Roy addressed the previous issues within the sports association, stating, "The association was plagued by corruption, which hindered local players from getting opportunities while outsiders took their place. We have now moved past that, as the Indian Olympic Association has held elections and recognized a new association. The new leadership is comprised of individuals genuinely connected to the sport, with Olympian Dipa Karmakar appointed as president."


The event showcased a vibrant turnout from athletes and sports enthusiasts, highlighting the increasing passion for sports in Tripura.


The celebration concluded with a reaffirmation of the Olympic values of friendship, respect, and fair competition. Dipak Majumder, the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, also attended the event.
