Toni Storm Reflects on Controversial WWE Exit and AEW Success
Toni Storm's Journey from WWE to AEW
Toni Storm has emerged as one of the standout female wrestlers in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), securing four championship titles. Her character, Timeless, has resonated with fans, allowing her to demonstrate her wrestling prowess. However, her journey to AEW was marked by challenges during her time in WWE.
Prior to her AEW success, Storm was part of WWE NXT UK, where she sought to make a name for herself. Her last storyline in WWE involved a feud with Charlotte Flair, which concluded in late 2021 and left her with unresolved feelings towards the top WWE star.
Although Storm has refrained from publicly criticizing Flair, she departed WWE shortly after a controversial segment where Flair hit her with a pie, a moment that became infamous. This incident was a catalyst for her exit from the company.

The Controversial Segment and Its Aftermath
In a recent discussion on the AEW Unrestricted Podcast, Storm revealed that the pie-throwing incident was not the original plan. Initially, she was approached with a proposal that involved Flair ripping her shirt off, which would have left her exposed and embarrassed. Given the climate of frequent firings due to budget cuts during the pandemic, Storm felt compelled to agree to the segment.
"I was actually quite happy with that segment that day because it was a lot better than the original idea," Storm explained. "They wanted to do this whole angle where they ripped my shirt and I was going to be all embarrassed in my underwear."
Storm noted that while some individuals opposed the original concept, it remains unclear if Flair was among them. In a subsequent conversation with Renee Paquette on The Sessions, Storm expressed that her feud with Flair had soured her love for wrestling, leading her to contemplate leaving the industry altogether.
