Thakkar and Ghorpade Claim National Titles

Manav Thakkar and Yashaswini Ghorpade have emerged victorious as the new national champions, winning the men's and women's singles titles at the 87th National Table Tennis Championships held in Indore on Saturday.


As reported by Olympics.com, top seed Manav Thakkar showcased an impressive performance in the men's singles final, defeating Jeet Chandra with a score of 4-1 (11-2, 11-4, 6-11, 11-9, 11-3) to secure his first national title. Thakkar dominated the initial games, swiftly taking the first two before Jeet made a brief comeback in the third. However, Thakkar quickly regained his momentum to finish the match decisively.


In the women's singles final, eighth seed Yashaswini Ghorpade also celebrated her first national title after a thrilling seven-game match against third seed Syndrela Das. Ghorpade triumphed with a score of 4-3 (11-6, 12-14, 11-5, 9-11, 13-11, 6-11, 11-8), maintaining her composure in the final game as both players exchanged leads throughout the contest.


Doubles Champions Announced

The mixed doubles title was claimed by Ankur Bhattacharjee and Suhana Saini, who secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Aniket Bose and Sampriti Roy in the final.


In the men's doubles category, Jeet Chandra rebounded from his singles final loss, teaming up with Anirban Ghosh to win against Ronit Bhanja and Preyesh Raj Suresh with a score of 3-2 in a tightly contested match.


The women's doubles title went to Olympian Sutirtha Mukherjee and Kausani Nath, who defeated Avisha Karmakar and Nandini Saha with a score of 3-1.


Additional Highlights

Divyanshi Bhowmick received the D Vishwa Trophy for her outstanding performance, reaching the quarter-finals during the championships.
