Historic Achievement at Wimbledon

On July 5, Novak Djokovic made history by surpassing Roger Federer's long-standing record, reaching the quarter-finals of the 2026 Wimbledon Championships. The Serbian tennis star triumphed over Roman Safiullin from Russia in a four-set match, winning with scores of 7-6, 6-3, 3-6, and 6-3 at the prestigious Centre Court of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. This victory marks Djokovic's 106th win at Wimbledon, the only grass court Grand Slam of the year. After facing a setback in the first set and saving a set point, he secured a tie-break win, followed by a dominant performance in the second set. Although he dropped the third set, Djokovic quickly regained his momentum.

Djokovic's Record-Breaking Wins

With 106 victories at Wimbledon, Djokovic now holds the record for the most wins in the tournament's history, surpassing Federer, who achieved 105 wins during his career. No other player has reached the 100-win milestone at this historic Grand Slam event, with Jimmy Connors trailing in third place.

Djokovic is now the only player to have the highest number of wins at two different Grand Slam tournaments, holding 104 victories at the Australian Open as well. Earlier this year, he broke Federer's previous record of 102 wins at Melbourne Park. Rafael Nadal leads with 112 wins at the French Open, while Djokovic follows closely with 113. At the US Open, Connors holds the record with 98 wins, and Djokovic (95) is poised to surpass that this year. Additionally, Djokovic is the only player to achieve over 100 wins at three different majors, while Federer has done so at two.

Having reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon for the 17th time, Djokovic is just one appearance shy of Federer's record of 18. He aims to equal Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles.
