Jannik Sinner Triumphs at Indian Wells, Making Tennis History
Sinner's Remarkable Victory
Jannik Sinner has further enhanced his impressive career by securing a straight-set victory against Daniil Medvedev in the ATP Indian Wells final. The match was intense, with Sinner demonstrating remarkable composure to win two tie-breaks, ultimately finishing the contest in straight sets. This defeat marked Medvedev's third loss in as many finals at Indian Wells. With this win, Sinner claimed his first title at Indian Wells, joining the ranks of Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer as one of the greats on hard courts.
Historic Achievement for Sinner
Prior to Sinner, only Djokovic and Federer had achieved a hard court super set, which includes victories at the Australian Open, U.S. Open, ATP Finals, Indian Wells, Miami, Cincinnati, Shanghai, Paris, and the Canadian Open. Sinner's win over Medvedev on Sunday made him the youngest player to accomplish this feat at just 24 years old, surpassing Federer and Djokovic, who were 30 and 31, respectively, at the time of their achievements. Andre Agassi also won all hard-court titles available during his career, including Indian Wells, Miami, Canada, Cincinnati, and Madrid, along with two hard-court majors and the Nitto ATP Finals.
After his victory, Sinner expressed his joy at winning his first Indian Wells Masters title, stating, "I'm very happy. Obviously, it was a great week. We tried to come here very early. I knew that this was a tournament I hadn't won, so I wanted to come here and prepare it in the best possible way, as a professional. Having now this achievement means a lot to me." For his triumph, Sinner will receive a prize of $1,511,380.
