Sinner's Impressive Victory

Jannik Sinner continued his remarkable performance at the Miami Open, defeating No. 3 Alexander Zverev with a score of 6-3, 7-6, securing his spot in the final. Sinner is now just one victory away from achieving the prestigious Sunshine Double, which involves winning both the Indian Wells and Miami Open in the same year, a feat last accomplished by Roger Federer in 2017. Historically, only 11 players have achieved this double, and Sinner aims to do so without losing a single set, a record yet to be broken, as he prepares to face Jiri Lehecka in the final.

Historic Milestone for Sinner

Jannik Sinner Scripts History

Sinner has displayed exceptional form, winning 32 consecutive sets at the Masters level. His victory over Zverev marked a significant milestone, making him the first player to reach three or more Masters 1000 finals without dropping a set. Additionally, he has reached 10 hard-court finals in just 26 main draw appearances, trailing only Andre Agassi, who achieved this in 25 matches during the Open Era.

“Today was a very tough encounter,” Sinner remarked post-match. “He played some incredible tennis. I was serving very well in the end, especially in crucial moments. Standing again in the final means a lot to me,” he added. Sinner has now extended his winning streak against Zverev to 11 matches. Despite the loss, Zverev can take pride in his competitive performance, as the match was closer than the final score indicated, with Sinner winning just four more points than Zverev. Sinner secured an early break in the first set, leading 2-1, which he maintained to win the set. The second set was more competitive, with Zverev pushing it to a tie-breaker, but Sinner proved too strong.
