Exciting Announcement for Tamil Nadu's Surfing Scene

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], July 15: Udayanidhi Stalin, the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, revealed on Tuesday that Mahabalipuram will be the venue for the Asian Surfing Championship 2025, taking place from August 3 to 12.


Stalin stated, “Tamil Nadu is set to host the Asian Surfing Championship 2025 in Mahabalipuram from August 3rd to 12th. In recent years, our state has successfully organized numerous international and national sports events, solidifying its reputation as a sports hub. Chief Minister MK Stalin has allocated ₹3.30 crores for this tournament. Tamil Nadu leads the nation in surfing, with 7 out of 8 athletes hailing from our state. We take pride in supporting this sport and the upcoming event,” he informed the press.


On the social media platform X, the Deputy CM expressed, “I addressed the media about another significant sporting achievement for Tamil Nadu. We are excited to welcome the world as Mamallapuram prepares to host the Asian Surfing Championships 2025, scheduled from August 3 to 12.”


He further noted, “Today, we officially announced this prestigious international event, which will attract over 150 elite surfers from various Asian nations. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Chief Minister @mkstalin for approving ₹3.3 crore to ensure the championship runs smoothly and successfully.”



This championship is particularly significant as it will serve as the final qualifying event for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, enhancing its global sporting relevance.
