During the Eliminator match against Gujarat Titans in Mullanpur on Friday, Suryakumar Yadav, a key player for the Mumbai Indians, experienced a minor injury scare. The game was briefly paused in the 13th over as the medical team attended to him.


 


After the match, Mumbai Indians' head coach, Mahela Jayawardene, provided an update on Suryakumar's condition. He reassured fans that there is no cause for concern, stating that Suryakumar is perfectly fine. Jayawardene mentioned that he had not received any serious feedback from the physiotherapists and confidently asserted that Suryakumar would participate in the next match, even if it meant playing with limited mobility.

"We understand the demanding schedule, but everyone is healthy and fit. Don’t be concerned about minor tightness. I haven’t heard anything alarming from the physios. I’m confident that even if he had to play on one leg, these players would still perform for us. No need to worry."



 


Suryakumar has been in exceptional form this season, ranking as the second-highest run-scorer in IPL 2025 with 673 runs across 15 matches, boasting an impressive average of 67.30. His performance will be crucial for MI in the upcoming Qualifier 2 against Punjab Kings.
