Surya Charishma and Tanvi Patri Set for Women's Singles Final at National Badminton Championships

In a thrilling showdown at the Senior National Badminton Championships in Vijayawada, local favorite Surya Charishma Tamiri and rising star Tanvi Patri have advanced to the women's singles final. Both players showcased remarkable skill and determination in their respective matches. Surya defeated world number 45 Rakshita Sree R, while Tanvi overcame Shruti Mundada after losing the first game. The men's singles semifinals also delivered excitement, with Rithvik Sanjeevi S saving a match point to upset top seed Kiran George. The finals promise to be an exhilarating conclusion to the championships, featuring top talents in both singles and doubles categories.
 

Exciting Women's Singles Final in Vijayawada

In Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, local star Surya Charishma Tamiri and rising talent Tanvi Patri have advanced to the finals of the women's singles at the Senior National Badminton Championships. Both players secured their spots after intense matches, as reported by the Badminton Association of India (BAI).


Surya Charishma, who previously defeated the top seed Unnati Hooda in the quarterfinals, triumphed over world number 45 Rakshita Sree R with scores of 21-18, 18-21, and 21-9. Meanwhile, Tanvi Patri showcased her resilience by coming back from a game down to defeat Maharashtra's Shruti Mundada, finishing with scores of 18-21, 21-12, and 21-15, marking their first appearance in the senior nationals finals.


Earlier in the tournament, Tanvi Sharma also made headlines by overcoming 10th seed Devika Sihag with a scoreline of 21-11, 10-21, 21-10 in the women's singles pre-quarterfinals.


In the men's singles semifinals, Rithvik Sanjeevi S, the 2024 Odisha Masters champion, saved a match point to defeat top seed Kiran George in a thrilling match that lasted over an hour, with scores of 21-16, 17-21, and 22-20.


Rithvik will face Bharat Raghav in the finals, who managed to upset second seed M Tharun with scores of 21-17, 11-21, and 21-11.


The mixed doubles semifinals saw top seeds Ashith Surya and Amrutha P recover from a poor start to defeat third seeds Deep Rambhiya and Sonali Mirkhelkar with scores of 8-21, 21-18, and 21-18. In another match, second seeds Sathwik Reddy K and Radhika Sharma won against Nitin Kumar and Kanika Kanwal with scores of 21-13 and 21-14.


The women's doubles final will feature a showdown between former national champions, as third seeds Shikha Gautam and Ashwini Bhat K defeated Vennala K and Reshika U with scores of 21-11 and 21-15. Second seeds Priya Devi KOnjengban and Shruti Mishra also advanced by overcoming eighth seed Aparna Balan and Simran Singhi with scores of 21-19 and 21-14.
