Sunrisers Hyderabad's Nitish Reddy Shines Ahead of Crucial Match Against Rajasthan Royals
Sunrisers Hyderabad's Key Player: Nitish Reddy
As Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) prepares for their eliminator match against Rajasthan Royals (RR), fast bowling coach James Franklin has praised young all-rounder Nitish Reddy for his impressive comeback following a challenging 2025 season. Franklin noted that Reddy has dedicated significant effort to improving his bowling and has been a vital contributor to the team's achievements this season.
Upcoming Clash: SRH vs. RR
The highly anticipated match will see Riyan Parag's RR face off against Pat Cummins' SRH at Mullanpur on Wednesday. The winner will advance to play against Gujarat Titans (GT) for a chance to compete in the final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Last season, Reddy, who was recognized as the 'Emerging Player of the Season' in 2024 with 303 runs in 11 innings, struggled significantly, managing only 182 runs at an average of 22.75 and taking two wickets.
Reddy's Impressive Performance This Season
This season, however, Reddy has made a notable impact, scoring 264 runs in 12 innings with an average of 29.33 and a strike rate of 169.23, including one half-century. His bowling has also improved, with seven wickets at an average of 44.42 and a best performance of 2/17. He has effectively contributed both with the new ball and during the middle overs.
Franklin's Insights on Reddy's Development
Ahead of the match, Franklin shared insights on Reddy's growth, stating, "I believe last year provided Nitish with valuable lessons from IPL 2025. He faced high expectations after his involvement with the Indian team, but he has worked hard on his bowling this year."
Franklin highlighted Reddy's role this season, noting that he has been batting deeper in the order, primarily at number five, which has allowed him to finish innings effectively. "His contributions have been immense, and we are all thrilled for him, especially after a tough previous season. He has truly bounced back this year," Franklin added.
Reddy's Dominance in Death Overs
Reddy has excelled in the death overs, boasting a strike rate of 215.87, ranking third among Indian batters this season, following Tilak Varma and Rajat Patidar.
Franklin also commended Reddy's fitness and preparation, emphasizing his professionalism and dedication to maintaining peak physical condition. He remarked, "Nitish is a remarkable athlete—strong, fast, and dynamic. His training has been focused on preparing for crucial moments in matches, ensuring he is ready to perform when needed."
