Sunrisers Hyderabad Secures Fourth Straight Victory

In a thrilling match on Saturday at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) achieved their fourth consecutive win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 by defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by five wickets.

SRH successfully chased down a daunting target of 229 runs with nine balls remaining. Despite a remarkable century from RR's young opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who scored 100 runs off just 36 balls, the collective batting strength of SRH, bolstered by the return of captain Pat Cummins, proved crucial. This chase is now recorded as the fourth-highest in IPL history and the highest ever in Jaipur.

Details of the Record Chase

The Sunrisers began their chase with a shaky start, losing opener Travis Head for just 6 runs in the first over, bowled by Jofra Archer. However, Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma quickly stabilized the innings, leading SRH to a strong position of 89/1 after the first six overs.

Kishan was particularly aggressive, scoring 74 runs off 31 balls, including 11 boundaries and 3 sixes. Abhishek Sharma supported him well with a quick 57 runs off 29 balls, hitting 11 fours and a six. Together, they formed a formidable partnership, adding 132 runs for the second wicket.

Although Abhishek was dismissed by Donovan Ferreira in the 10th over and Ishan fell to Archer in the 13th over, Heinrich Klaasen (29) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (36) ensured that the chase remained on track, maintaining the required run rate.

Despite RR's bowlers, including Brijesh Sharma (2/44) and Jofra Archer (2/34), taking two wickets each, they could not prevent SRH from reaching the target in just 18.3 overs. With this victory, SRH climbed to third place in the IPL standings, boasting five wins from eight matches and a net run rate (NRR) of 0.815.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Stellar Performance

Earlier in the match, Rajasthan Royals set a challenging total of 228/6, thanks to a sensational century from 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who scored 103 runs off 37 balls, including five fours and 12 sixes. Dhruv Jurel also contributed significantly with a half-century, scoring 51 runs off 35 balls.

Sooryavanshi and Jurel formed a powerful partnership, adding 112 runs together. After SRH opted to bowl first, Sooryavanshi quickly made amends for his previous golden duck by hitting four consecutive sixes off Praful Hinge in the first over.

Despite losing Yashasvi Jaiswal early, Jurel and Sooryavanshi kept the momentum going, reaching 76/1 in the first six overs. Sooryavanshi reached his half-century in just 15 balls, showcasing his explosive batting skills.

The partnership was eventually broken when Nitish Kumar Reddy dismissed Jurel for 61 runs. Sooryavanshi continued to dominate, reaching his century in just 36 balls before being dismissed for 103. RR finished their innings at 228/6, with Eshan Malinga being the standout bowler for SRH, taking 2 wickets for 38 runs.
