On Wednesday, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) achieved a significant victory against Punjab Kings (PBKS), winning by 33 runs and taking the lead in the IPL 2026 standings. The SRH Assistant Coach, James Franklin, attributed the success to valuable insights from the batters, which helped the team limit PBKS to 202 runs while chasing a challenging target of 236 in Hyderabad.

Franklin Highlights Batters' Insights for Bowling Tactics

"We gathered crucial feedback from our batters, especially from the first innings. They noted that the pitch was slowing down considerably, making it tougher to hit when Punjab's bowlers delivered off-pace cutters. This information was vital for our bowling strategy," Franklin shared during the post-match press conference.

"When batting first, the execution of our bowling plans heavily relies on the batting feedback regarding pitch conditions. We capitalized on this advantage today to enhance our bowling performance," he added.

Outstanding Performances Lead to Victory

In defending a substantial total, Pat Cummins effectively managed his bowlers to prevent PBKS from gaining any momentum. Key wicket-takers included Cummins (2/34), Shivang Kumar (2/45), Sakib Hussain (1/40), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (1/11 in 2 overs). Reddy also made a notable contribution with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 29 off just 13 balls, featuring two sixes and two fours.
