Sunrisers Hyderabad's Commanding Win

On Sunday, May 25, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), under the leadership of Pat Cummins, achieved a resounding victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their final match of the 2025 IPL season. The match, held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, showcased SRH's prowess as they triumphed by a significant margin of 110 runs in Match No. 68 of the tournament.

Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, SRH posted an impressive total of 278 runs for the loss of three wickets. Key performances came from Heinrich Klaasen, who scored an unbeaten 105 runs, along with Travis Head contributing 76 runs. Other notable scores included Abhishek Sharma with 32 runs, Ishan Kishan with 29, and Aniket Verma adding 12 runs.

In response, KKR struggled against the SRH bowling attack, being bowled out for just 168 runs in 18.4 overs. The standout bowlers for SRH were Jaydev Unadkat, Eshan Malinga, and Harsh Dubey, each claiming three wickets to secure the win for their team.

"Amazing finish. The last few games of the season, lots of things clicked and it was scary to watch that kind of batting."

During the post-match presentation, a thrilled Pat Cummins praised his team's batting display, describing it as "scary" and commending their resilience in overcoming injuries throughout the season.

"We get wickets like here, we got to max out and get 250-260 and other ones where we need to graft and get to 170 which we didn't. Quite a few people got opportunities, we looked at each one of them when selecting a team, but couldn't fit them in. Really happy with the squad we have got, few players went with injuries back home, we used 20 players."

This victory was particularly satisfying for SRH, as they had previously faced a heavy defeat against KKR on April 3, 2025, at Eden Gardens, where they lost by 80 runs. In that match, SRH had to bowl first, and despite Mohammed Shami, Pat Cummins, Zeeshan Ansari, Harshal Patel, and Kamindu Mendis each taking a wicket, KKR managed to score 200 runs for six wickets.

The SRH chase in that match faltered early, losing Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan within the first three overs, leaving them unable to recover. Kamindu Mendis (27 off 20) and Heinrich Klaasen (33 off 21) attempted to stabilize the innings, but the team ultimately collapsed for just 120 runs in 16.4 overs, resulting in a significant loss.
