Sujay Parekh and Shaks Devnani Triumph in 50+ Women’s Doubles at Queens on Court Tournament

Sujay Parekh and Shaks Devnani emerged victorious in the 50+ Women’s Doubles category at the Queens on Court Women’s Day Tournament held in Mumbai. They defeated Kavita Khanna and Sshruti Kewalramani 11-6, completing an unbeaten run throughout the event. The tournament celebrated International Women’s Day with competitive matches, highlighting the skills of female athletes in pickleball. The runners-up and third-place teams also showcased impressive performances, making the event a memorable occasion for all participants.
 

Queens on Court Women’s Day Tournament Highlights


Sujay Parekh and Shaks Devnani clinched the title in the 50+ Women’s Doubles category by defeating Kavita Khanna and Sshruti Kewalramani with a score of 11-6 at the Queens on Court Women’s Day Tournament. This event, part of the PWR 200 series, was sanctioned by the Indian Pickleball Association and the Maharashtra Pickleball Association, and took place at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai on March 8. The duo showcased a strong performance throughout the final, overcoming a formidable challenge from their opponents and finishing the tournament unbeaten.


In the final match, Sujay and Shaks established an early advantage with consistent returns and strategic positioning at the net. Although Kavita and Sshruti made efforts to narrow the score during the middle of the match, the eventual champions maintained their composure during critical rallies. They concluded the match with a score of 11-6, securing the championship title.


Earlier, in the semi-finals, Sujay and Shaks defeated Bela Kotwani and Neelima Utgikar with a score of 11-5, demonstrating control over the match pace and minimizing errors, which allowed them to advance smoothly to the final. Meanwhile, Kavita Khanna and Sshruti Kewalramani reached the final after a dominant 11-0 victory against Ruchee Shah and Anaita Edekar Gandhi, showcasing their ability to control rallies from the outset.



Both finalist teams had a strong showing in the group stage, remaining unbeaten before entering the knockout rounds. Sujay and Shaks carried their momentum forward, ultimately lifting the title.



In the match for third place, Bela Kotwani and Neelima Utgikar triumphed over Ruchee Shah and Anaita Edekar Gandhi with a score of 11-0, earning the bronze medal. The Queens on Court Women’s Day Tournament featured various women’s categories, celebrating International Women’s Day with competitive pickleball.
