Spain's Royal Family Celebrates World Cup Semifinal Victory

On July 15, the Royal Family of Spain extended their congratulations to the national football team following a decisive 2-0 win against France in the first semifinal of the FIFA World Cup 2026. This victory marks Spain's second appearance in a World Cup final, reinforcing their status as one of the elite teams in global football.

In a message shared on X, the official account of the Spanish Royal Family and King Felipe VI's Household commended the team's outstanding performance and expressed their best wishes for the upcoming final.

Spain showcased a remarkable performance at Dallas Stadium, combining solid defense with effective finishing, a contrast to their earlier matches, to secure their place in the final.

Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring with a penalty after a foul by French defender Lucas Digne on rising star Lamine Yamal. Fullback Pedro Porro then sealed the victory with a well-placed shot following a clever assist from midfielder Dani Olmo.

Porro's exceptional display earned him the Player of the Match title. Spain will now face either England or Argentina in the World Cup final at New York-New Jersey Stadium on Sunday.

Spain's previous World Cup final appearance was in 2010, where they triumphed over the Netherlands thanks to a goal from Andres Iniesta in extra time.

Oyarzabal's performance continued his impressive form, bringing his total to 18 goals in his last 20 matches for Spain. His penalty also made him the sixth player to reach 30 international goals for the national team, joining legends such as David Villa and Fernando Torres.
