Sourav Ganguly Open to Coaching Role Despite Lack of Experience
Ganguly's Future in Coaching
Sourav Ganguly, the former mentor of the Delhi Daredevils, expressed his willingness to take on a coaching position in the future, stating he is 'just 50' years old. In a recent discussion with a news agency, he mentioned that while he may not have traditional coaching experience, he is ready to respond if the national team reaches out to him.
Reflections on His Career
During the interview, Ganguly reflected on his diverse roles, saying,
He has previously been part of the original men's Delhi Daredevils team and later joined the Delhi Capitals in the Women's Premier League. The Mumbai Indians, known for their historic rivalry with the Capitals, triumphed over them once again in the WPL final."I got into different roles. After finishing, I became the president (CAB), then the board president (BCCI). I never got the time. But let's see what the future holds. I am just 50 and I am open to it. We will see where it goes."
Support for Gautam Gambhir
Ganguly also shared his thoughts on head coach Gautam Gambhir, who has faced criticism recently. Despite acknowledging Gambhir's struggles, he remains optimistic about his potential growth. Ganguly stated,
He further added,"He is doing a good job. He started a little slow, losing to Australia and New Zealand. But he picked up with the Champions Trophy and this England series is going to be a big one for him."
"I have not seen him that close. But he is very passionate. I have not seen the strategy closely because I have never worked with him. I have played with him and he was a great guy when we played together. He had a lot of respect for me and the seniors."
Ganguly's Perspective on Gambhir
Sourav Ganguly noted that Gambhir appears to be genuinely passionate and straightforward. He appreciates Gambhir's transparent communication style regarding the team and its players. Ganguly believes that there is no facade in Gambhir's approach; he is authentic in his interactions. Wishing him well, Ganguly concluded that, like anyone else, Gambhir will continue to grow and gain valuable experience over time.
