Sourav Ganguly and Anjum Chopra Join ICC Hall of Fame

Sourav Ganguly and Anjum Chopra have been honored with induction into the ICC Hall of Fame, recognizing their significant contributions to cricket. Ganguly expressed his gratitude for this prestigious acknowledgment, while Chopra reflected on her journey in the sport. Celebrating Cricket Legends


Sourav Ganguly and Anjum Chopra have been honored with induction into the esteemed ICC Hall of Fame, recognizing their significant contributions to cricket. This announcement was made by the governing body on Saturday, July 11. Ganguly expressed his gratitude, stating, “Being inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame is a tremendous honor. To have my name alongside cricket's legends is a moment I will treasure forever. Representing India and playing with so many greats has been a privilege, and this recognition is incredibly special.” He also thanked Mr. Jay Shah for this prestigious acknowledgment, which he views as the pinnacle of achievement for any cricketer. Ganguly reflected on the support he received from family and friends throughout his career.


Known as the 'god of offside', Ganguly concluded his ODI career with an impressive 11,363 runs across 311 matches and accumulated 7,212 runs in 113 Test matches. He was once India's most successful captain, leading the team to 21 victories and guiding them to the finals of the Champions Trophy in 2000 and 2002, as well as the World Cup final in 2003, where they faced Australia.


Anjum Chopra, a pioneer in women's cricket, played 12 Tests, 127 ODIs, and 18 T20Is. She was part of the Indian team that reached the finals of the 2005 ODI World Cup and played her last match for India in 2012. Now a cricket analyst, Chopra shared her thoughts on her induction, saying, “Growing up in a sports-oriented family, I was inspired by stories of cricketing legends. The dream to represent India was instilled in me from a young age, thanks to the encouragement from my parents, teachers, and coaches who supported me through challenges.” She expressed her gratitude to all who contributed to her journey, stating that this honor is a tribute to everyone who helped shape her career.


Kevin Pietersen Also Honored



Kevin Pietersen has also been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. The elegant batsman scored 8,181 runs in 104 Tests and 4,440 runs in 136 ODIs before retiring in 2014. Pietersen remarked, “It’s a tremendous honor to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. Being recognized in this manner and having my name alongside so many great players is truly humbling. This is the highest accolade a cricketer can achieve, and I know it will take time for this honor to fully resonate with me.”
