Shubman Gill's Injury Update

Guwahati: Indian cricket team captain Shubman Gill has been officially released from the squad ahead of the second Test against South Africa, which is set to begin on Saturday.

During the first Test in Kolkata, Gill experienced a neck spasm while batting in the first innings, leading to a hospital visit due to a whiplash injury.

A senior source from the BCCI, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed, "Gill has been released from the squad and will focus on his recovery."

Although he traveled with the team to Guwahati, Gill's neck pain has not fully resolved, raising concerns about his participation in the upcoming ODI series.

Currently, South Africa is ahead in the two-match series, leading 1-0 after their impressive victory at Eden Gardens.
