Shubman Gill's Historic Double Century

On Wednesday, Indian captain Shubman Gill made history by scoring the fastest double century in One Day Internationals (ODIs), achieving this remarkable milestone in just 117 balls. This achievement took place during India's second ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati.

Gill's performance surpassed the previous record held by Indian wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, who scored a double century in 126 balls against Bangladesh in Chattogram in 2022. Additionally, Gill became only the second player, after Glenn Maxwell, to hit an ODI double century while chasing a target. Maxwell's notable 201 not out was against Afghanistan at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in 2023.

With this double century, Gill joins Rohit Sharma as the only players to have multiple double centuries in men's ODI cricket. His 200 runs came off 117 balls, placing Kishan's 126-ball double century as the second-fastest in ODI history.

Rohit Sharma Achieves 12,000 ODI Runs

In a remarkable display of consistency, Rohit Sharma also reached a significant milestone on Wednesday, becoming the third Indian batter to score 12,000 runs in ODIs. He joins the ranks of cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

Rohit achieved this milestone in 282 innings, making him the second-fastest player to reach 12,000 runs, with only Virat Kohli accomplishing it in fewer innings (242). Sachin Tendulkar reached the landmark in 300 innings, while Ricky Ponting and Kumar Sangakkara follow with 314 and 336 innings, respectively.
