Shaheen Shah Afridi Reaches 400 Wickets Milestone in Test Match Against Bangladesh

In a remarkable display of skill, Shaheen Shah Afridi reached the milestone of 400 international wickets during the first Test match against Bangladesh. At just 26 years old, he has quickly risen through the ranks, becoming one of Pakistan's leading bowlers. This achievement places him among the top wicket-takers in the country's cricket history. Additionally, he has made his mark in the ICC World Test Championship, leading the wicket tally for Pakistan. Despite his personal success, Bangladesh ended Day 4 in a strong position, setting the stage for an exciting finish to the match.
 

Shaheen Afridi's Historic Achievement

On the fourth day of the inaugural Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi made headlines by achieving 400 international wickets, solidifying his legacy in the sport.


The left-arm pacer reached this remarkable milestone by dismissing Bangladesh's Mominul Haque at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday. This accomplishment makes him the ninth bowler from Pakistan and the sixth fast bowler to reach 400 wickets across all formats.


At just 26 years old, Shaheen accomplished this feat in his 211th international match, highlighting his swift ascent since debuting as a teenager.


Pakistan's Leading Wicket-Takers

Shaheen now ranks ninth on the list of Pakistan's all-time leading wicket-takers in international cricket. The top three are former captain Wasim Akram with 916 wickets, Waqar Younis with 789, and Imran Khan with 544. Other notable bowlers ahead of Shaheen include Shahid Afridi, Saqlain Mushtaq, Saeed Ajmal, Shoaib Akhtar, and Umar Gul.

Milestone in World Test Championship

Earlier in the same Test, Shaheen also became the first Pakistani bowler to achieve 100 wickets in the ICC World Test Championship. He currently leads Pakistan's wicket tally in this competition with 103 wickets, surpassing Noman Ali and Sajid Khan.
