Shafali Verma's Stellar Performance Recognized

Dubai: Indian opener Shafali Verma, who played a crucial role in securing India's first ICC Women's World Cup title with her explosive 87 runs and two vital wickets, has been shortlisted for the ICC Player of the Month award for November.

Initially brought into the squad as a replacement for an injured player, Shafali's outstanding all-round performance in the final against South Africa in Mumbai earned her the Player of the Match title and a nomination among the top three for this monthly accolade.

Joining her on the women's nominee list are Esha Oza from the UAE and Thailand's Thipatcha Putthawong, both of whom excelled in the inaugural ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy held in Bangkok.

UAE captain Oza scored a total of 187 runs at an impressive strike rate of 137.50 and took seven wickets across seven T20 matches, earning the Player of the Tournament award.

Putthawong was a standout performer as well, finishing as the joint leading wicket-taker with 15 wickets, including a remarkable four-wicket haul in the final against Scotland, leading Thailand to victory.

In the men's category, the shortlist includes South Africa's Simon Harmer, Bangladesh's Taijul Islam, and Pakistan's Mohammad Nawaz.

Harmer was instrumental in South Africa's historic 2-0 Test series victory over India, their first in 25 years, taking 17 wickets at an extraordinary average of 8.94, which included a match-winning performance of 6/37 in the second Test.

His exceptional play earned him both Player of the Match and Player of the Series titles.

Taijul was pivotal in Bangladesh's 2-0 series win against Ireland, claiming 13 wickets at an average of 26.30, also receiving the Player of the Series award.

Nawaz excelled with both bat and ball during Pakistan's successful Tri-Series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, scoring 104 runs in ODIs at an average of 52.00, taking 11 T20I wickets at 12.72, and achieving match-winning figures of 3/17 in the final, securing another Player of the Series honor.
