Dubai, December 5: Indian cricketer Shafali Verma, who delivered an exceptional performance in the Women's World Cup Final, has received a nomination for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for November. Her efforts were pivotal in leading India to their first-ever title.
Alongside Shafali, the nominees include Esha Oza from the UAE and Thailand's Thipatcha Putthawong, both of whom showcased impressive skills in the recently held ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy.
Shafali, who was a last-minute addition to the Indian squad, emerged as the top scorer in the final, contributing significantly to India's historic ICC title victory. In her sole ODI appearance in November, she scored an impressive 87 runs off 78 balls, achieving a strike rate of 111.53.
Her bowling was equally impactful, as she took two key wickets, dismissing Sune Luus and Marizanne Kapp for 36 runs in her seven overs, effectively breaking crucial partnerships during the match.
Thipatcha Putthawong from Thailand had an outstanding month, leading her team to victory in the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy and finishing as the joint leading wicket-taker with 15 wickets. Her remarkable performance in the final included four wickets against Scotland at an economy rate of 4.25.
Esha Oza, an all-rounder from the UAE, demonstrated her match-winning capabilities throughout the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy. In seven T20I matches during the month, she scored 187 runs at a strike rate of 137.50, effectively managing both anchoring and accelerating innings.
Her notable performance came in the final match against Namibia, where she scored an unbeaten 68 runs and took two wickets, leading her team to a 28-run victory.
