Leadership Changes in SG Pipers

New Delhi, Dec 3: The SG Pipers, a franchise in the Hockey India League, have officially named Jarmanpreet Singh as the captain of their men's team and Navneet Kaur as the captain of the women's team for the upcoming season.

Jarmanpreet, a defender, will lead the men's squad, with Australian midfielder Ky Willott stepping in as vice-captain.

On the women's side, Navneet retains her captaincy, while Kaitlin Nobbs from Australia will serve as vice-captain in her inaugural season with the Pipers.

Last season, Jarmanpreet was a key player for SG Pipers, and his significant role in India's Asia Cup 2025 victory highlights his capability to lead effectively.

“I am grateful to our coaches and management for this opportunity. With a blend of junior and senior talent, we are determined to build a strong team and aim for the championship,” Jarmanpreet expressed.

Willott made a notable impact last season with his work ethic, composure, and ability to control the game, which has now earned him a leadership position. He recently contributed to Hockey Club Melbourne's success in the Hockey One title.

Men's team head coach Tim Oudenaller expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming season, stating, “Jarmanpreet's experience and commitment will be crucial in guiding the team. Ky's experience from last season will also be vital in supporting Jarmanpreet as we strive for excellence.”

Navneet returns as captain of the women's team after a successful season where she led the offense and made significant contributions to India's international matches. Kaitlin's experience and defensive skills will enhance the team's overall performance.

“I appreciate SG Pipers for selecting me as captain again. I believe we can achieve great results this season. We have worked hard on our strategy for the auction, and I am confident our preparations will show in our performances,” Navneet stated.

Sofie Gierts, the head coach of the women's team, remarked, “Navneet embodies the values we want our team to represent. Her integrity and hockey skills make her an ideal leader. Kaitlin's experience from last year's HIL final will be invaluable as vice-captain.”
