Severe Weather Disrupts England's World Cup Preparations in Kansas City
Tornado Warning Impacts England's Training
Upon their arrival in Kansas City, England's preparations for the World Cup faced a significant interruption due to a tornado warning issued for the area. Residents were advised to seek shelter as a severe thunderstorm approached, with the weather service predicting wind speeds reaching up to 80 miles per hour (129 km/h). Tornado sirens were activated on Saturday evening, according to reports.
A weather alert cautioned locals to 'Take shelter in a sturdy building, away from windows. Flying debris may be deadly to those caught without shelter.'
British media outlets reported that the England team was instructed to remain indoors, while a fan festival in the city was also closed early for safety reasons.
Prior to the tornado warning, the squad had already experienced a theft of their training kit and had conducted a community training session earlier in the day.
England is scheduled to kick off their Group L campaign against Croatia on Wednesday in Arlington. Under the guidance of Thomas Tuchel, the team is intensifying their preparations for the opening match in Dallas after arriving in Kansas City.
