"Currently, we believe Karun has amassed significant runs over the past few seasons. He has some Test experience early in his career and has played county cricket. With Virat absent, we are slightly short on experience in the batting lineup. Jaiswal is on his first tour to England, and while Gill has played one Test there, only KL and Pant have prior series experience. Thus, we felt Nair's experience could be beneficial. Sometimes, these choices may seem unfair to others, but they are necessary," Agarkar explained.
