Ahead of the Asia Cup, Gomez clarified that Samson is adaptable and can bat at any position based on the team's requirements.

When asked if Samson would be comfortable batting at the fifth or sixth position, Gomez expressed confidence that Samson can adjust to batting lower down the order, given his experience as a professional and international player. He emphasized that the wicketkeeper-batsman's flexibility is a significant asset, and Samson has complete faith in his abilities.

In the Kerala Cricket League, Samson initially played in the middle order for the Kochi Blue Tigers. However, he did not get a chance to bat in that match. In the following game, he returned as an opener and scored a rapid century off 42 balls. In the third match, he batted at number six but managed only 13 runs off 22 balls.
