A Memorable Match at Old Trafford

Iconic cricketer Sachin Tendulkar reminisced about the past as he praised the Indian cricket team for achieving a draw in the recent fourth Test against England held at Old Trafford, Manchester.

After England posted a staggering 669 runs in their first innings, India struggled, getting bowled out for 358. This left them with a daunting deficit of 311 runs. The start of India's second innings was disastrous, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan dismissed without scoring a run.

With over 150 overs left in the match, it seemed India was on the verge of defeat and losing the series. However, the middle-order batsmen delivered an impressive performance, ensuring the series remained competitive.

India managed to lose only two wickets over 142.1 overs, finishing at 425/4, extending their lead by 114 runs when the match concluded.

Captain Shubman Gill and KL Rahul played a crucial role, forming a 188-run partnership for the third wicket. However, both fell early on the final day, with Rahul scoring 90 and Gill 103 before being dismissed by Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer, respectively.

Tendulkar's Praise for Team India

Despite the setbacks, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar stepped up, preventing England from taking advantage of the situation. Both players scored centuries, contributing to an unbeaten partnership of 203 runs that secured the draw for India. Jadeja finished with 107 not out, while Sundar ended with 101.

Reflecting on India's remarkable achievement, Tendulkar recalled his own experience during the famous 1990 Manchester Test, where he scored an unbeaten century in the second innings to help India avoid defeat.

With the Indian team replicating a similar feat at the same venue, Tendulkar took to social media to express his thoughts: "When it comes to India-England, Old Trafford is known for keeping the series alive. Congratulations, Team India, on a fantastic comeback. @klrahul, @ShubmanGill, @imjadeja, and @Sundarwashi5 showed great character and fighting spirit. Good luck for the final Test. Go India!"
