RCB Returns to Home Ground

Bengaluru: The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are gearing up to return to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for the IPL 2026 season, following the Karnataka government's approval. The defending champions will host five of their home matches in Bengaluru this year.

As per previous arrangements, the remaining two home games will be held at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur.

This announcement comes after a tragic incident involving a stampede near the stadium during last year's celebrations of RCB's first IPL title. In response, the Karnataka government launched an investigation, leading to a temporary halt of activities at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and prompting the franchise to seek alternative venues.

However, with recent developments, the government has now permitted matches to resume at the stadium.

RCB expressed gratitude in a statement, highlighting the collaborative efforts of various authorities to bring the games back to their home ground for the fans.

The management also acknowledged the support from the Government of Karnataka, the Karnataka State Cricket Association, and the Karnataka Police in enhancing safety measures and infrastructure ahead of the IPL season.

Rajesh Menon, CEO of RCB, emphasized the significance of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, stating, 'It is where our identity as a team truly comes alive. The energy our fans bring to Bengaluru has always inspired our players.'

He added, 'After thorough discussions and securing the necessary permissions, we are thrilled to confirm that RCB will play five matches in Bengaluru. We are grateful to the Government of Karnataka, KSCA, and Karnataka Police for their invaluable support.'

This positive outcome reinforces the franchise's strong connection with its dedicated home supporters and ensures the champions will continue to thrive at their beloved fortress.

The IPL Governing Council is expected to unveil the complete schedule for the 2026 season following the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
