Rota Set to Host Major International Pickleball Tournament in 2026
Rota Prepares for the Reballution Cup 2026
The town of Rota in Spain is gearing up to welcome one of the largest pickleball tournaments globally, the Reballution Cup 2026, scheduled from June 2 to June 7 at the Antonio Barrientos ‘Chispa’ Municipal Sports Centre. This event has grown to become the largest outdoor pickleball competition in Europe and ranks among the most significant on the international sports calendar, reflecting the sport's rapid expansion worldwide.
This year's event is anticipated to attract over 720 participants, marking an increase of more than 200 players compared to the last tournament. Competitors from around 30 nations across four continents are expected to join, showcasing the sport's global appeal and the rising profile of the Rota tournament.
The tournament's international stature has been bolstered by a growing number of professional players from the Americas, drawn by the competitive field and a prize pool of €20,000, one of the most lucrative in Europe. The competition will primarily take place at the Antonio Barrientos ‘Chispa’ sports complex, with additional events hosted at the Hotel Playa de la Luz.
Local officials believe this partnership signifies a deeper connection between sports, tourism, and the local economy. The influx of players, coaches, families, and support staff is expected to provide a substantial economic boost, as visitors are likely to extend their stays to explore the region's beaches, cuisine, and cultural offerings.
This event is part of a broader initiative to position Rota as a hub for major international sporting events. To support this goal, the municipality has invested in upgrading facilities at the ‘Chispa’ Sports Centre, including resurfacing and painting six pickleball courts, two basketball courts, and one futsal court with specialized resin, along with new lighting systems and updated basketball equipment.
While pickleball is among the fastest-growing sports in Europe, few locations have embraced its growth as enthusiastically as Rota. The Reballution Cup 2026 is set to elevate the town's profile within the international pickleball community, featuring record participation, a diverse foreign presence, and ongoing infrastructure investments. Rota will once again be a focal point for one of the world's most rapidly expanding sports, uniting elite athletes, amateur players, and fans from around the globe for an exciting week.
