Rohit Sharma's Legendary ODI Innings

Rohit Sharma's remarkable innings of 264 runs remains one of the most celebrated performances in ODI cricket history. This incredible feat took place against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens in 2014, where he set multiple records.

Sharma not only achieved the highest individual score in ODIs but also became the first player to surpass the 250-run mark in this format. His innings, which included 33 fours and 9 sixes, came off just 173 deliveries.

Thanks to his extraordinary performance, India posted a total of 404 runs for 5 wickets in their 50 overs. In response, Sri Lanka was dismissed for a mere 251 runs, despite half-centuries from Angelo Mathews and Lahiru Thirimanne, leading to a significant defeat.

The Record-Breaking Moment

When Rohit Sharma set his record, few anticipated that it would be surpassed anytime soon. However, in 2022, Tamil Nadu's N Jagadeesan broke this long-standing record.

Jagadeesan achieved the highest individual score in List A cricket during the Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring 277 runs against Arunachal Pradesh. This surpassed the previous record of 268 runs held by Alistair Brown since 2002.

In addition to this, he also recorded the joint-fastest double-century in men's List A cricket, reaching the milestone in just 114 balls. His innings featured 25 fours and 15 sixes, leading Tamil Nadu to a staggering total of 506 runs for 2 wickets.

Jagadeesan and his opening partner Sai Sudharsan set a remarkable partnership of 416 runs for the first wicket, with Sudharsan contributing 154 runs before being dismissed. Tamil Nadu won the match by an impressive margin of 435 runs, bowling out Arunachal Pradesh for just 71 runs.
