In a recent match against South Africa in Visakhapatnam, former Indian cricketers Mohammad Kaif and Irfan Pathan lauded Rohit Sharma for his remarkable performance, where he achieved his 61st fifty in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). Kaif remarked, "Hitman isn't going anywhere!"


Rohit's Stellar 75-Run Performance

Opening the innings alongside Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma scored an impressive 75 runs off 73 deliveries. Together, they formed a formidable partnership, accumulating 155 runs at a run-a-ball pace in pursuit of 271 runs. During his innings, Rohit also surpassed the 20,000 international runs milestone, hitting seven boundaries and three sixes.


Praise from Former Players

Kaif took to X to express his belief in Rohit's capabilities, stating that he remains a crucial figure in Indian cricket. Despite being 38 and having retired from Tests and T20Is, there were concerns regarding his ODI performance leading up to the 2027 World Cup. However, Rohit has dispelled these doubts by amassing 340 runs in his last five ODI innings. Kaif emphasized, "Hitman isn't going anywhere! He has plenty left in the tank... a pillar of Indian cricket."


Irfan Pathan also commended Rohit's performance, highlighting his remarkable consistency at this age. He stated, "Unreal consistency at the age of 38 by Rohit Sharma. He is in total control."


Record-Setting Opening Partnership

Rohit also achieved a significant milestone by forming a century partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal for the first wicket, marking the 35th time he has participated in an opening stand of 100 runs or more. This achievement places him second on the all-time list, just behind Sachin Tendulkar, who holds the record with 40 such partnerships.


India Wins the Series

In this match, India won the toss and opted to field first, allowing South Africa to bat. The Proteas managed to score 270 runs before being all out in 47.5 overs.
