Rohit Sharma Achieves 6000 IPL Runs
Rohit Sharma, a key player for the Mumbai Indians (MI), has made history by surpassing the 6000-run mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This remarkable achievement occurred during a match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday in Mumbai. Currently, Rohit has accumulated a total of 6013 runs in 231 matches, boasting an average of 29.76 and a strike rate of 132.82, which includes 40 half-centuries and two centuries.
Rohit's Place Among IPL Greats
Following Rohit, Suryakumar Yadav holds the second-highest runs for MI with 3809. Rohit is also recognized as the second-highest run-scorer in IPL history, with 7183 runs across 276 matches. The record is held by RCB's Virat Kohli, who has scored 8840 runs in 271 matches.
Injury Overshadows Milestone
In the match against RCB, Rohit scored 19 runs off 13 balls while chasing a daunting target of 241 before he had to retire hurt. After the fifth over, he experienced hamstring discomfort, which led him to seek medical attention on the field. Unfortunately, the pain worsened, forcing him to leave the game without returning to bat, as MI ultimately lost by 18 runs.
Kohli Faces Injury Concern
Virat Kohli also encountered an injury scare during the match. He was seen receiving treatment for his left leg in the dugout during the second innings. Kohli managed to score 50 runs off 38 balls before being dismissed by MI captain Hardik Pandya in the 15th over.
RCB's Rise in the Standings
With this victory, RCB has climbed to third place in the points table, achieving three wins out of four matches. In contrast, MI has dropped to eighth place, securing only one win in four games and currently facing a three-match losing streak.
