Star Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma is making waves as he prepares for the upcoming 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The seasoned batter has rejoined the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad and has already begun his training sessions. A recent video shared by Sharma on Instagram showcases him practicing his signature big shots while donning the Mumbai Indians training jersey.
Rohit Sharma's Remarkable Journey with MI
Over his illustrious career, Sharma has clinched six IPL titles, including one with the Deccan Chargers and five as the captain of the Mumbai Indians, making him one of the most successful captains in IPL history. He joined MI in 2011 and took over as captain in 2013.
In his inaugural season as captain, he led MI to their first IPL title and continued to guide the team for 11 years until Hardik Pandya took over in 2024. Rohit is also MI's leading run-scorer and one of only four players to surpass 6000 runs in the IPL.
His standout season came in 2013 when he amassed 538 runs, contributing significantly to MI's title victory. In 2015, he was named Player of the Final as MI triumphed over the Chennai Super Kings for their second title.
Under his leadership, MI secured additional titles in 2017, 2019, and 2020.
Mumbai Indians Kick Off Pre-Season Training
On Monday, the Mumbai Indians officially began their pre-season training, marking the start of preparations for the 2026 IPL campaign. Head coach Mahela Jayawardene led the initial training session, supported by bowling coaches Paras Mhambrey and Lasith Malinga, along with fielding coach Carl Hopkinson and the entire strength and conditioning team.
