Rohit Baisoya Takes Charge at Patna Golf Club
Patna (Bihar) [India], March 24: In an impressive display of skill, Rohit Baisoya from Delhi fired a remarkable seven-under 65, securing the lead after the first round of the INR 25 lakh Alpha Sports Academy Golf Championship 2026, taking place at the Patna Golf Club. This tournament marks the fourth event of the 2026 DP World PGTI NexGen season.
Following closely behind, Bipin Mukhiya and Manoviraj Shekhawat are tied for second place, each finishing with scores of 68.
Vinay Kumar Yadav, who triumphed in the previous NexGen event, achieved a hole-in-one on the first hole, concluding his round with a score of 72, placing him in a tie for ninth. Local professional Md Nawab performed well, carding a 70 to secure a tie for fourth.
The Patna Golf Club features a par-72, nine-hole course, where players complete two rounds of the same nine holes.
Rohit Baisoya's front nine included four birdies and two bogeys, but it was his back nine that truly shone, highlighted by an eagle and three additional birdies. Notably, he made an eagle on the 13th hole after chipping in from the bunker and executed two impressive up-and-downs from greenside bunkers for birdies on the 12th and 14th holes.
Reflecting on his performance, Rohit emphasized his success on the par-5 holes, stating, “I capitalized on all four par-5s with an eagle and three birdies. I hit many fairways, which is crucial on this course. The stretch from the 12th to the 14th was particularly special as I played three outstanding bunker shots to get out of trouble and secure an eagle and two birdies.”
