Rishabh Pant's Exciting Comeback

The semi-finalists from the 2024 season, Purani Dilli 6, have confirmed the retention of star wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant as their marquee player for the upcoming Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025. Pant's return signifies the team's commitment to a strong title challenge following a respectable performance last season.

According to a press release, Purani Dilli 6 faced significant challenges during the DPL 2024, particularly when their semi-final match was canceled due to rain, which dashed their hopes of clinching the title. With Pant back in the lineup, the franchise aims to assemble a more robust and well-rounded team this time around.

Team Owner's Enthusiasm

Team owner Akash Nangia expressed his excitement about Pant's return, stating, "Rishabh Pant is not just a world-class cricketer – he’s the heart and soul of Purani Dilli 6. His ability to win matches and lead the team gives us a significant edge. We are constructing a team around him that we believe can achieve great success this season."

Pant's Perspective on DPL

Pant also conveyed his eagerness for the upcoming season, appreciating the league's role in fostering emerging talent. He remarked, "The DPL is excelling at nurturing young players, and much of the credit goes to Mr. Rohan Jaitley and the DDCA for organizing the league effectively. Players like Digvesh Rathi and Priyansh Arya have truly made a name for themselves here."

"Purani Dilli 6 feels like home to me. The passion, the drive to win, and the support from fans are unmatched. We had a decent run last year, but this season, we are returning with even greater hunger and strength."

Expansion of DPL for 2025

In an exciting update, the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has announced the introduction of two new men's teams for the upcoming season: Outer Delhi and New Delhi. This expansion increases the number of franchises in the DPL from six to eight, highlighting the league's rising popularity and competitiveness.

Player auctions are scheduled to occur in New Delhi on July 6 for men and July 7 for women, reinforcing DPL's commitment to advancing both men's and women's cricket. Matches will once again take place at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium, with the complete schedule to be released following the auctions.

As anticipation builds, fans can expect an even more thrilling Season 2 of the DPL, featuring new talents, returning players, and additional teams vying for the championship.
