Rishabh Pant's Recovery Journey

Mumbai: Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper-batter for India, expressed his optimism regarding his recovery from injury, stating he is making significant progress and is eager to return to competitive cricket soon.

Pant mentioned, "My fitness is improving daily. I am putting in a lot of effort at the Centre of Excellence, and I believe I will be back on the field shortly."

The 28-year-old highlighted the significance of remaining engaged with cricket during lengthy recovery periods. He credited his passion for the sport and the support from those around him as crucial elements in his healing process.

"The love for the game and the encouragement from my support system keep me connected to cricket during my injury," he remarked.

He also stressed the importance of ongoing development as a professional athlete, stating, "As a cricketer, it’s essential to continually enhance your skills. I must strive to improve every aspect of my game."

Reflecting on his career's various comebacks, Pant noted that time away from the pitch has provided him with a fresh perspective on both cricket and life.

However, he acknowledged that the toughest part of being sidelined is the lack of high-level competition.

"Every comeback has imparted valuable lessons about life, instilling a sense of gratitude and a deeper appreciation for what truly makes me happy," he shared.

"What I miss most during my injury is the sheer joy of playing the game. I love cricket, but nothing compares to the thrill of competing at the highest level. That’s what I genuinely miss," he concluded.

Pant has been absent from the Indian squad since January 10, when he suffered a right-sided internal oblique muscle tear after being hit above the waist by a ball during a practice session in Vadodara.
