Rishabh Pant Appointed Captain for Delhi in Vijay Hazare Trophy
Rishabh Pant to Lead Delhi in Upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy
Rishabh Pant, the vice-captain of India's Test team, has been named the captain of the Delhi squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which kicks off on December 24. Additionally, cricket star Virat Kohli will be available for two matches in the upcoming national one-day championship.
Alongside Pant and Kohli, fast bowlers Harshit Rana, seasoned Ishant Sharma, and Navdeep Saini have expressed their desire to participate in the tournament. However, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has not included Pant, Kohli, and Rana in the 16-member squad, as they will not be available for the entire tournament. They are expected to play two to three matches before the ODI series against New Zealand, starting on January 11, 2026.
It remains unclear which two matches Kohli and Pant will be available for. Ayush Badoni has been appointed as the vice-captain and will take over the captaincy responsibilities when Pant plays as the second wicketkeeper for the national team.
