Revolutionizing Player Ratings with AI-Powered Camera Systems in Pickleball
AI Integration Enhances Pickleball Experience
Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) has partnered with Save My Play to introduce AI-driven camera systems in clubs and facilities globally. This collaboration aims to streamline the process of recording, analyzing, and converting matches into official player ratings. Central to this initiative is the automation of match recording, allowing facilities equipped with Save My Play cameras to provide players with a smooth experience—from entering the court to receiving updated ratings—without the need for app downloads or account setups. Players can start recording in seconds using gesture controls, while the system handles all background processes.
The cameras are designed for scalability, being compact and lightweight, enabling easy installation across multiple courts with minimal disruption. They capture high-definition footage, automatically eliminate downtime between points, and create match highlights. For clubs and tournament organizers, the platform also offers live streaming features, including score overlays and sponsor branding, which can open new revenue opportunities through content and sponsorship.
After matches, recorded games are analyzed by PB Vision and DUPR’s AI engine, which assesses player performance based on shot quality, movement, positioning, and consistency. This analysis informs AI-assisted DUPR ratings, providing players with a quicker and more accessible entry into the rating system while ensuring the integrity of results-based progression.
DUPR CEO Tito Machado emphasizes the importance of this integration, stating, “Our goal is to simplify the process for players to engage with the DUPR ecosystem. By merging effortless video capture with AI analysis, we eliminate barriers for players and facilities, enhancing access to data-driven ratings.”
David Fox, co-founder of Save My Play, shares this vision, aiming to make high-quality video and analytics available to every pickleball court. He notes, “By integrating with PB Vision and DUPR, we provide players with immediate benefits from each match while helping clubs find new ways to engage their communities and promote the sport.” The broader impact is clear: as more courts implement connected camera systems, the number of recorded and analyzed matches will increase, enhancing the data supporting player development and rating accuracy.
