Yash Dayal's Situation

Yash Dayal, a fast bowler for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), will not participate in the upcoming 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season due to a 'personal situation,' as confirmed by Mo Bobat, the team's director of cricket.

During a pre-tournament press conference, Bobat stated that Dayal's absence is necessary for both his well-being and the franchise's interests. He emphasized that RCB remains supportive and in regular communication with Dayal, who is still under contract with the team.

Support for Yash Dayal

Bobat reassured fans and media that the franchise has retained Dayal and is committed to supporting him during this challenging time. He mentioned, "We have been very supportive of Yash to date, and that's reflected in the fact that we retained him. We are communicating with him regularly, and I spoke to him earlier today as well."

The announcement comes amid rumors suggesting that Dayal might be facing legal challenges.

Josh Hazlewood's Injury Update

In addition to Dayal, RCB will also be without Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood at the start of IPL 2026. Hazlewood is currently recovering from hamstring and Achilles injuries.

Bobat noted that the franchise is in close contact with Cricket Australia regarding Hazlewood's fitness status. He expressed optimism about Hazlewood's return, stating, "As soon as they're comfortable with his fitness, he'll join us."

Hazlewood played a pivotal role in RCB's previous title win, taking 22 wickets in 12 matches at an impressive average of 17.54.
