RCB's Batting Struggles Highlighted in Defeat to Gujarat Titans
RCB Captain Reflects on Team's Performance
After a four-wicket loss to the Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar acknowledged the team's batting deficiencies but commended the bowlers for their efforts under tough conditions.
During the post-match presentation, Patidar noted that RCB's total was insufficient, yet he praised the bowlers for maintaining competitiveness. "The score we set was not adequate for this pitch, but our bowling performance was a positive takeaway," he remarked.
He pointed out that the pitch favored fast bowlers and credited GT's Shubman Gill for turning the game with his impressive innings. "The grass cover on the pitch aided the fast bowlers, and Shubman's performance was exceptional, putting us under pressure," he added.
Patidar identified RCB's middle-order collapse as a critical factor in their defeat. "We lost too many wickets during the middle overs, which put us at a disadvantage," he explained.
He also lauded veteran bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar for his outstanding early spell, stating, "His experience shone through in the first half of the match."
The RCB captain emphasized the need to focus on the tournament's long-term goals. "There's still a long way to go, and we will approach each game individually. Our focus is on playing quality cricket, not the standings."

In response, GT launched a strong attack with Shubman Gill (43 runs off 18 balls) and Jos Buttler (39 runs off 19 balls) setting the tone. Despite losing wickets in the middle overs, Rahul Tewatia (27 runs) and Rashid Khan ensured the Titans crossed the finish line, securing a well-earned victory.
